Some patients will be prescribed vitamin B12 injections, so will have to pay a prescription charge, whereas others will receive the injections free.

As a young person who was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Pernicious Anemia 4 years ago I have to inject the vitamin B12 every three months to prevent myself from becoming very unwell. Not many people know about this condition, if left untreated it can be life threatening, once you are diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia you have it for life and no lifestyle changes can manage or treat the condition.
