Create a mechanism to ban protests in specific areas at certain times

Sometimes the upset, anger and problems caused by a protest can be magnified by time and place. We believe the Government should be able to outlaw protests in specific areas on certain days or part days. Proposals for this could be considered and approved/rejected by an independent body.

Examples of possible use: (1) Protests against monarchy on Coronation Day & Commonwealth Day; (2) Protests against foreign Heads of State; (3) Remembrance Day & returning troops; (4) Protests outside police stations; and (6) Protests outside some religious buildings.

The days and part-days and areas would have to be carefully considered. The body for approving/rejecting proposals could consider impacts that are well beyond policing factors.
