Restrict lawful development on agricultural land in greenbelt areas

Under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, developers can apply for lawful development certificates, rather than go through a full planning application process. We believe this should not be possible for adding car parking, allotments and associated outbuildings on agricultural greenbelt land.

Abbots Leigh is a small village in North Somerset, just outside of Bristol where a business is applying for lawful development certificates to:

- Install 700 commercial allotments
- Install 80 parking spaces
- Install shipping containers
- Use plastic matting, cardboard & municipal compost

This would all be on a beautiful greenbelt meadow with rare species including butterflies, skylarks, green woodpeckers, bats and many more.

We believe proposals like these should be subject to a full planning application.

Help save our Greenbelt Land.
