Introduce a citizen identity card so everyone age 16+ can prove their identity

Bring in a citizen identity card for all persons aged 16 and above. This will allow all citizens to use a standardised ID to identify themselves when needed eg. when asked for their proof of identity by the authorities, or in order to vote.

So that every person in the UK can provide proof of identity when requested – eg. by police and local government. To ensure that all citizens have the same access to voting in elections and have means to prove identity when required.

I am concerned that large portions of the public are being excluded from participation in democracy and from other activities where proof of identity is needed. A Government identity card could also help reduce fraud and identity theft.
