End the Help to Buy scheme and increase funding for new social housing

The Government needs to stop interfering with the demand side of the housing market, and just concentrate on the supply side. The Help to Buy Scheme has cost tax payers £29 billion, with only 340,000 houses being bought. Reports have found that this scheme has artificially inflated house prices.

The £29 billion spent on the scheme could have been used to supply more social housing, instead of funding the scheme.

This would have helped increase the housing supply. The Government should do more to supply social housing rather than funding the scheme.
