Ensure customers can cancel subscriptions online if signed up to online

I want Government to pass legislation to make it so that if you have taken out a subscription online that it is possible to also cancel that subscription online - within whatever minimum terms are in the agreement.

Many online subscriptions require you to phone in order to cancel subscriptions, making it easier to subscribe than to cancel. This isn't so bad for fixed-term subscriptions but for ongoing ones this can be quite a barrier.

Making phone calls can be difficult for disabled, ill or neurodivergent people, and can cause unwanted anxiety at difficult times, including when having financial difficulties.

When cancelling by phone customer service staff often try to convince customers not to leave, which can add to anxiety.
