I, like many other UK leaseholders, am trapped in my flat, in a building with unsafe, high fire-risk cladding. Current protections against costs for remediation works only apply to leaseholders in buildings over 11 metres tall. This should be changed to cover all leaseholders.
If our Property Developer chooses not to do the right and decent thing, it is innocent leaseholders like me that will be landed with huge bills (potentially £100,000s), which may bankrupt some.
Lord Lytton proposed an amendment to extend the protections for long leaseholders against the costs of remediation to leaseholders in blocks of all heights containing more than two residential units. His amendment was rejected by MPs, but we want the Government to extend these protections as proposed by his amendment.
