Allow the release of beavers into the wild with a licence from Natural England

We would like the Government to allow the release of beavers into the wild with a licence from Natural England. Currently beavers can only be released into enclosures, stopping catchment-wide beaver flood management schemes which could reduce flood risk.

Since the completion of the successful Government sanctioned River Otter Beaver trial, and despite Natural England promoting the clear benefits of beavers to communities, there has not been a change in Government policy that restricts beaver releases to enclosures.

This is stopping communities throughout this country from benefitting from the water engineering skills of beavers, which could be used to protect villages, towns and cities against flooding.
