Include education on the impact of the covid-19 lockdowns, and in particular the impact on mental health, in the RSE and health curriculum. This should help children better understand the impacts of these lockdowns, and including the impacts these may have had on their own lives and mental health.

The impact of the covid-19 lockdown is further reaching than just the academic impact on children and young people. We believe it would benefit this age group to learn about the impacts on mental health and life experiences of these lockdowns, and the reasons for this. This should help children make connections between the way they feel and the environmental impacts which may have led to this.
