Hold a referendum on ending devolution in Wales

The establishment of the Welsh Senedd, as an additional layer of government in Wales, was intended to empower the Welsh people and provide them with more control over their own affairs.

We believe the recent controversial implementation of a blanket 20mph speed limit across restricted roads in Wales has shown that the current Welsh Government are not representing the democratic rights of the Welsh people, by ignoring calls for a cease once the estimated economic impact came to light.

Government Response

Thursday 12th October 2023

The UK Government has no plans to hold a referendum on the future of devolution in Wales.

The Government understands and shares many of your frustrations about policies being pursued by the Labour Welsh Government. However, people in Wales have voted in support of devolution in two referendums – to establish the National Assembly for Wales and to provide it with full law-making powers. If you are unhappy with the laws being passed by the Senedd, I would encourage you to use your vote at the ballot box in the next Senedd election.
