The lack of public toilets disproportionately affects people who are sick or disabled, the elderly, women, people who work outside, and the homeless.

However, public toilets are rapidly disappearing in the UK and it is reported that 2,000 public toilets (a third of the total) have closed in England and Wales in the last 20 years.

The Government should make it a legal requirement for local authorities to provide and maintain suitable, safe, clean and appropriately located Public Toilets.

We need to act now to keep public toilets open.
