Extend the HRT Prescription Prepayment Certificate to male HRT therapy

People receiving Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for the menopause can pay £19.30 for a certificate to cover the cost of certain HRT medicines. Yet men only have the option of a £111.60 certificate to cover male HRT treatment. We want the HRT certificate to be extended to cover male HRT treatment.

This is meant to be an equal society and yet men are having to pay significantly more for HRT treatment to deal with the problem of hormone deficiency, which we believe can have an equally negative impact on men's lives. We think it is discriminatory that men are expected to pay more for HRT medicines, and that the HRT Prescription Prepayment Certificate should be extended to male HRT therapy.
