Our laws currently do not allow for the use of privately owned electric scooters on roads and cycle paths, despite the fact that electric mobility scooters are allowed.

At a time when the UK like many countries throughout the world is trying to improve the environment by reducing carbon emissions, our Government is denying the people a means of cheap and environmentally friendly transportation.

The national shared transport charity Collaborative Mobility UK has warned the UK is falling behind the rest of the world with its "lack of action" on e-scooters. New laws could ensure e-scooters, whether rented or privately owned, are subject to high safety standards.
