Require Secretaries of State to be members of the House of Commons

Introduce legislation limiting the powers of the Prime Minister to select their Secretaries of State from those in the House of Commons only. We believe those in positions of power within Government should be directly elected representatives of The People.

We believe the installation of David Cameron as Foreign Secretary sets a dangerous precedent for Prime Ministers to parachute individuals into government positions by making them members of the House of Lords, and undermines democracy.
