Those who work for an employer and receive a bonus at Christmas time for their hard work and loyalty, should not have their Universal Credit award reduced because of this. We believe any Christmas bonus should be disregarded for the purpose of calculating Universal Credit.

1. Adjust the £10 DWP Christmas Bonus introduced in 1972 to reflect inflation - 4,662 signatures

Low income workers who are entitled to Universal Credit should not have their Christmas bonuses taken into account on their January Assessment Period. Why should those who have worked hard all year to qualify for a thank you from their employer to ease the cost of Christmas have their Universal Credit reduced in January, when by then it may be long gone? What is the incentive to working? The £10 DWP bonus isn’t taken off Universal Credit claimants in January!
