Increase fines for serious speeding offences with higher fines for high earners


At the moment, the highest percentage of weekly income any offender can be fined is 175%, in a band C offence (20-30+ above the limit) and there are caps on the maximum that fines can be within legislation.

Increasing percentages of offender incomes within the guidelines and removing statutory caps on fines, as well as introducing a scale based on income that enforces much more significant fines on the very wealthy, could deter severe speeding, keeping the roads safer, and provide additional income for the treasury.”
