Remove restrictions on matters the Local Government Ombudsman can investigate

The LGO cannot currently investigate certain matters, including those where the persona affected has or had a right of appeal to or before a tribunal (Local Government Act 1974, section 26(6)(a), as amended). We want the Government to change this so that the LGO can investigate any matter.

The current legislation means that tribunals are responsible for investigating and responding to certain cases of alleged misconduct and breaches of legislation by local authorities. Tribunals are swamped and we want the LGO to be allowed to investigate any matters, so that where fault is found, they can hold the local authority accountable.
