Hold a referendum on repealing the Greater London Authority Act 1999

We believe that the GLA Act should be repealed and the Greater London Assembly dissolved as a result. The Government should hold a referendum asking the public if they want this to happen.

We believe that the Mayor has far to much autonomy without being sufficiently held to account, and the Assembly has too limited powers.

Repealing the GLA Act could mean that TfL could be put under the control of the Department for Transport; and the Met Police and London Fire Brigade could be better aligned with national policing policies and structures. Other powers could be devolved to local councils with a way for them to liaise on related matters.
