Extend Adventure Activities Licensing to all organisations for under 18s

Extend Adventurous Activities Licensing (AAL) legislation to all organisations conducting adventurous activities with under 18s. Charities and schools are exempt from AAL regulations, including inspections and rules on qualified instructors, which we believe can lead to lower safety standards.

We believe the lack of external inspection by AAL inspectors and lack of requirements for qualified instructors places young people at risk.

We believe voluntary organisations cannot be left to inspect themselves. Instead we want them to be subject to AAL rules, so they are inspected by the Adventurous Activities Licencing Agency in the same way professional outdoor activities providers are.
