Take action to pressure Russia and support refugees over anti-LGBTQ+ measures

Russia’s supreme court ruled the ‘international LGBT movement’ as ‘extremist' in November 2023. We are concerned this is leading to the increased persecution of people suspected to be LGBTQ+.

We want the Government to take action to pressure Russia and support refugees over anti-LGBTQ+ measures.

We want the UK Government to:

- Offer automatic asylum and refugee status for any person escaping anti-LGBTQ+ measures in Russia
- Use its global influence to pressure the Russian government to abandon anti-LGBTQ+ measures
- Urge the United Nations and human rights organisations to intervene
- Impose sanctions on Russia until anti-LGBTQ+ measures are abandoned

An attack on human rights and the LGBTQ+ community anywhere is an attack on people everywhere.
