Give consumers the right to procure parts for mobile/small electronic devices

The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information Regulations 2021 were a great step forward in "right to repair" but do not give consumers the right to procure parts. We believe consumers should have the right to procure parts for mobile phones and small electronic devices.

The regulations should give consumers access to purchase original equipment manufacturer parts in order to complete their own repairs (where the consumer has the desire to do so)

Of course, there should always be protections to businesses that mean that self-repair is done at the consumer's own risk, but having the ability and right to self-repair should not be impeded.
