Engage in discussions with EU to agree a reciprocal youth mobility scheme

The European Commission has proposed beginning negotiations with the UK to allow young people to move freely, work and study in both regions. We think the Government should enter into negotiations, aiming to implement a youth mobility scheme similar to that we have with Australia and others.

When the UK left the EU, millions of young people lost the right to live, work and study in 27 other countries, losing the myriad cultural, social and economic benefits that we see as coming with it.

We believe the youth mobility scheme offers the opportunity to restore these benefits, boost the UK economy and foster stronger relationships with our neighbours. Unlike freedom of movement, the UK is able to control the numbers of people coming in and could require they have funds to support themselves.
