We want the Government to make the act of copying digital media for personal use legal. For instance, copying music from a CD you have bought by first copying it to your computer and listening to it from there.

This should apply to copying files for personal use, as well as backups for data protection.

Despite being common practice, the act of buying an album and copying it onto an MP3 player is illegal. It is understood that the industry often turned a blind eye to people copying data for personal use - however I would like to see protection in law for doing this. This petition is not aimed to make sharing such material publicly on the internet legal.
