Introduce New Safe Haven Law and baby boxes to Save Infants and Support Mothers

We urge Parliament to introduce UK Safe Haven Laws and baby boxes in hospitals to protect infants and support mothers in crisis. We think baby boxes, places where parents can surrender an infant ensuring their immediate care, give parents a safe, anonymous, stigma-free and non-punitive option.

We think placing baby boxes in accessible locations such as hospitals would prevent unsafe abandonments, provide urgent medical attention for surrendered infants, and connect mothers to essential mental health, housing, and social services.

We call on Parliament to act because we think the UK currently lacks adequate options for mothers in crisis. We think the introduction of baby boxes as part of new Safe Haven Laws would demonstrate a commitment to protecting vulnerable infants and supporting mothers in their most desperate moments.
