Increase funding for IVF & fertility treatments to increase access.

We believe that we are in a fertility crisis. We worry that many people may be being denied access to medical treatment for infertility due to inconsistent restrictions and criteria that we believe are unfair. We feel this level of inequality and inequity needs to be urgently addressed.

In 2021, 55k people had IVF or DI treatment. Despite NICE guidelines advising ICBs to offer 3 rounds of IVF per patient, subject to certain criteria, currently access to fertility treatment is dependent on factors including postcode, sexuality, age, parental status, miscarriage, BMI & Anti-mullerian hormone level.

In 2014 40% of IVF treatments were NHS-funded, but by 2022, this dropped to just 24%, despite growing demand for timely diagnoses and mental health support and decreasing total fertility rate.
