The Road Vehicle Lighting Regs 1989 permit the display of green beacons by GMC registered doctors.

Green beacons do not give exemptions to traffic rules but they can ease passage through other road users giving way.

NMC and HCPC registered healthcare professionals also work on call and we think this could improve the efficiency of attending to these duties.

We think CFRs dispatched to emergencies on behalf of state ambulance services would benefit from improved response times without the risks of blue lights.
