Require councils to keep streetlights on during the hours of darkness

Reports indicate that councils are turning off streetlights to cut electricity costs and save money. I think this is making streets less safe, increasing the risk of crime, and making it more dangerous for pedestrians and drivers.

Poor visibility at night creates hazards, and residents may no longer feel secure walking outside after dark.

I think street lighting is inadequate in many areas, which residents voice concerns about. Councils have spent significant amounts replacing lights with "energy-saving" bulbs, and I think turning them off defeats the purpose of these investments. I think that instead of cutting essential public safety measures, councils should find other ways to reduce costs.

I believe residents deserve well-lit streets for both safety and peace of mind.
