Fund the NHS to employ Blood Bikers

Currently, blood bikers, a much needed service, are in many areas funded by way of charity. If the NHS needs this service so much, then we think it should be delivered by the NHS, and funded by the tax payer.

We think an NHS trust awarding a £14m contract for a private company that included the same work in 2019 is not fair. It was estimated it saved the trust £100,000 a year to have volunteer blood bikers do this work, however we think it would be more beneficial to the economy if these workers were paid an hourly wage rather than be volunteer run. We think it would also benefit the NHS and it is unlikely to cost £14m in wages!
