Violence against women and girls in the UK is rising. It was estimated there were 1.1 million crimes in the year ending in March 2024, including nearly 70,000 rapes, yet only 2.6% of rapes result in a charge. An estimated 2.4 million people are affected by domestic abuse every year. We believe urgent action must be taken on support, prevention, and justice, including specialist services for marginalised women and international aid for women in places such as Afghanistan.
