Government to do more to protect victims of false allegations

We want the Government to impose shorter time limits on pre-charge bail and introduce strong minimum penalties for those making false allegations. We think it is important that the due process and rights of the accused are protected, and that there should be a system to support those falsely accused

We call on the Government to promote balanced media reporting, and to commission regular reviews to improve investigative practices. We think that the current legal system often overlooks the rights of the accused, hindering fair due process and equal treatment. We believe that exonerated individuals face immense stigma and struggle to rebuild their lives without adequate support. We think regular reviews of criminal investigations ensures thoroughness and prevents miscarriages of justice.
