Immediately ban all vehicles that fail their MOT from being driven

We want the Government to immediately ban all vehicles that fail their MOT from being driven. Under current law, a vehicle that fails an MOT may still legally be driven until the previous certificate expires, if no ‘dangerous’ problems were listed in the MOT.

We think this contradicts road safety logic: how can a vehicle fail an MOT and be safe to drive? We believe an immediate ban could eliminate legal contradictions, reduce bureaucratic overreach, and improve safety. We feel the law should be fair, consistent, and proportionate and that it is currently based on flawed annual checklists.
