Voluntary employment and training scheme for those with learning difficulties

We want the Government to implement a scheme for employers to employ adults with learning difficulties. We think employers should be able to pay less than minimum wage for workers within the scheme.

There are many unemployed adults who are unable to gain employment, that may not have the ability to do all tasks in the work place. We think a voluntary scheme for the employer and employee, to start with a trial placement, then an employment training placement moving to a permanent placement, with pay increasing incrementally at each stage could help. We think it could support those who want to work and employers could afford it.
