Ban baled tyre exports to protect UK tyre recycling

According to reports each year the UK has 50 million waste tyres that need recycling and around half of those are exported to India. We believe this is harming the UK recycling industry.

This has led to toxic emissions and carbon black waste, often violating environmental rules due to poor regulation, outdated technology, and weak enforcement—posing a serious environmental threat.

If we don't act now many UK tyre recyclers will be forced to close. We believe if this happens there will be no alternative but to rely on these exports which we feel are poorly run and inadequate.
