Require businesses to give workers time off on general election days

Require businesses to give workers a few hours off on election days which may encourage greater civic participation. We think working hours on general election days should be reduced without affecting workers' statutory holiday entitlements.

We think that voting in general elections is an ad hoc civic duty that requires informed and timely decisions.

The results of general elections are critical to the nation’s future.

People do not necessarily work near their homes, and workers may have routine commitments that demand their time after work. Therefore, we think voting in person may require special arrangements for full-time workers.

The current voting system does not provide a time allowance for people to vote in person during their working hours.
