Ban the sale and use of sunscreens containing ingredients that damage corals

Research suggests that many sunscreens containing chemicals like oxybenzone harm coral reefs, causing bleaching & death. Coral reefs support marine life and protect coastlines. We think the Government must act to ban harmful sunscreens to protect marine ecosystems and promote reef-safe alternatives.

Coral reefs are essential for biodiversity, fisheries, and tourism but face threats from pollution and climate change. Research indicates that sunscreens that use mineral-based ingredients like zinc oxide do not harm marine life and are reef-safe. By banning certain sunscreens, we think the Government can reduce environmental damage and encourage eco-friendly products, setting a global example in ocean conservation.
