Fund scheme for retired police dogs

After a lifetime of dedicated service, many police dogs retire with injuries or chronic health conditions. We therefore call upon the Government to provide support for these heroic canines in retirement by establishing a centrally funded scheme for retired police dogs.

Despite their dedicated service, retired police dogs currently receive no direct government support for their care in retirement. The financial burden falls on handlers or adopters, which we think is inequitable. We think that implementing a government-funded scheme would ensure they obtain the necessary veterinary care and support, and are duly recognised and rewarded for their lifetime of service.
