We urge the Government to extend key consumer protection rights, e.g. the right to a refund to small businesses - sole traders or companies with fewer than 10 employees. We feel current B2B laws offer inadequate safeguards and may leave small firms vulnerable to unfair treatment.
We believe small businesses lack essential protections when buying goods and services. They can't rely on the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and face weaker safeguards under B2B law. Many buy standard products like laptops but are denied refunds even when items are faulty, and repairs have failed. We feel this may create unfairness and can lead to exploitation by larger suppliers. We believe extending consumer rights could promote fairness, trust, and resilience in the small business sector.
