Many newly qualified midwives are completing their degrees to find few jobs available. Many are left unemployed or leave the profession before they even begin. We believe this is a devastating waste of talent at a time when maternity services are understaffed and under pressure. We feel we need urgent investment into Band 5 roles and a national plan to support NQMs into work. We believe the Government must protect maternity services, families and give newly qualified midwives job security.
