We call on the government to conduct a review of policies on empowering communities, regenerating high streets, and ensuring sustainable development of key town centre sites, prioritising local needs.
We think that derelict town centre sites hinder high street vitality and sustainable growth and communities need a stronger voice in decisions about these vital assets. We feel that current policies often fail to ensure developments genuinely benefit local economies, foster local shopping, or align with climate goals by reducing car dependency. We believe government leadership is vital to empower towns and ensure public land serves community and environmental best interests.
