Require Counselling and Mental Health Support for Blue Light Services

We want the Government to introduce a national policy requiring all Blue Light Services (Police, Fire, Ambulance, and Coastguard) to provide regular, mandatory counselling sessions and ongoing mental health support for their employees.

Emergency workers may face trauma regularly, which may lead to PTSD, anxiety, and depression. We think support is inconsistent and often depends on self-referral, which many avoid due to stigma. We think requiring counselling would help protect mental health, improve wellbeing, and support vital frontline staff.
