This catastrophic breach put lives at risk, forced a secret £850 million evacuation scheme, and was hidden from the public under a superinjunction. We believe an inquiry is vital to establish how this happened, responsibility for this, what lessons were learned (if any), and to ensure full transparency over the use of public money and national security failings. We owe it to those Afghans and to the British public.
