Ban the use of bots to bulk-buy and resell retail goods

We urge the Government to legislate to ban the use of automated bots for bulk buying retail items, and ban reselling these items at an inflated price. Many bulk-bought items are intended for children, and we want a law to stop profiteers from targeting families through these practices.

Some people use bots to buy up entire stocks of popular items in seconds, which may leave people with no choice but to pay inflated resale prices or miss out. We feel this often affects goods aimed at children, which seems especially exploitative. Similar laws exist for ticket sales, we ask for the same protections to cover consumer goods so that parents and children aren’t unfairly targeted by profiteers.
