Fund development of antipsychotics and mood stabilisers with fewer side effects

We want the government to fund and prioritise the development of more antipsychotic and mood-stabilising medications that do not cause side effects such as weight gain, fatigue or loss of motivation. People deserve mental health treatments that do not harm their physical health or daily functioning.

We are concerned that some mental health medication causes side effects like weight gain, loss of motivation, food cravings and fatigue. We feel these effects harm physical health and quality of life, especially for people with a history of eating disorders. We believe we need modern treatments that support recovery without causing side effects.
