These barriers then need to be addressed formally through options already available and written guidance issued for NHS staff.

I am unable to access many elements of healthcare as a result of having Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. I cannot attend cervical smear tests or blood tests. Accessibility for A&E is impossible as I cannot sit upright for lengthy periods of time. There are currently no written accessibility guidelines for people with long term chronic illness, which prevents healthcare staff from adapting practices and procedures to make healthcare accessible specifically for those with chronic illness.
