I want Parliament to require mounted police to clear their horses' droppings from roads and pavements. I think horse waste poses hazards to the public and harms street cleanliness. Dog owners must clean up after their pets; I think the same standard should apply to police horses.
It is a troubling inconsistency that citizens are obliged to clean up after their dogs, yet mounted police are permitted to leave substantial waste in our streets. I feel this is a double standard which undermines fairness, can create hazards for pedestrians and cyclists, and diminishes the dignity of our shared spaces. I believe that a simple and practical remedy is readily available.
