Increase funding to Local Authorities for home-educated children with safeguards

We want the Government to increase funding to local authorities so they can provide more funding to home-educated children. The funding should be conditional on parents submitting a clear education plan and providing regular updates to ensure this money is supporting the child’s learning.

Many children struggle in mainstream education due to unmet needs and rising mental health issues—around 1 in 5 aged 8–16 now have a probable mental disorder. We believe home education can offer personalised learning, reduced anxiety, and better support for neurodivergent children. Many families receive no government funding. We propose funding with clear plans and reviews to ensure accountability.
