Frontline staff can face continued risk of workplace exposure to COVID, and lack of access to vaccination can increase the chance of illness, staff absences, and transmission to vulnerable patients. Despite this, absence due to COVID is not treated any differently to other illnesses under standard NHS sick leave policies.
Protecting NHS workers protects patients. We urge the Government and JCVI to prioritise staff safety by restoring access to booster vaccinations for all NHS healthcare workers.
