Respect for politicians is said to be at an all time low. We believe the majority of people who stand for and hold elected office do so for the right reasons and have the highest of integrity, but the minority who do not live up to those standards do the rest a grave dis-service. We think this measure will go a little way towards bringing a negative outcome to those who may think the office they hold entitles them to lie to the public, and so rebuild a level of trust and respect in those the public elect.
