Protect 5-Year ILR and Benefits for Refugees Already on the Path to settlement

We want the Government to keep the 5-year ILR route for refugees and commit to ensuring that any new rules or benefit restrictions do not apply to those already holding refugee status or already on the existing pathway to ILR.

We believe applying new rules or benefit restrictions to refugees already on the 5-year ILR pathway would breach legal certainty and fairness. The Government must honour its promises to those who relied on existing rules. We think that changing them now would disrupt lives, undermine integration, and create hardship, threatening the wellbeing and stability of refugee families and communities.
