Require banks to provide a minimum number of branches for their customers

The Government should bring in new legislation so that banks stop closing branches. We are concerned that this is actively harming small business and customers.

We think that if banks keep and maintain branches in cities and towns, this will aid the small businesses and customers to accesses services like change for shops. It could also help older people speak to a person and access their money more easily. Some small businesses need those services and not every Post Office can provide the service a bank branch can. We think it's easier to explain a problem to a person in person than an automated phone system or a chat bot. By losing branches, we lose part of the high street and see more buildings empty and unused.
